With her show recently renewed for another season, this talented young star is looking brighter than ever…..
Last spring we got a chance to interview the amazing star of ABC’s Switched at Birth, a popular show about two girls who get accidentally switched at birth. Since then, the heads of ABC have renewed the show and Ms. Marano is busy in the studio filming new episodes for the upcoming season. Between takes we had a chance to catch up with Vanessa and get an update on her exciting life…..
LT- The network confirmed a fourth season of “Switched at Birth” any clues or hints as to what we can expect?
VM- We haven't started shooting so I have no information. Literally anything could happen. I kind of hope Bay serves some hard just because that would be so fun to play.
LT- What is the relationship like on set between those with hearing and those who are hearing impaired? Is it difficult to talk to each other or has everybody figured out a way to communicate.
VM- We have interrupters to help out directors and those who don't know sign language. That being said, the show has been going on so long now that everyone knows a fair amount of sign language.
LT- Most teens don’t experience a ‘switched at birth’ situation’ but still many teens can relate to many different characters in the show. What do you think helps them relate to the show?
VM- It's about identity and defining yourself. What makes you "you", what's makes a family a "family." It's a topic that a variety of ages can relate to.
LT- What do you think you and your character on switched at birth- bay, have in common? Do you think this has changed over the seasons?
VM- We actually are very different. The thing that is most similar about us is our humor. We both have sarcastic tendencies. Over the course of the seasons though, there's been ongoing references to how not into sports she is. That happened due to my cripplingly terrible athletic abilities. They had to write it in.
LT- Are there any other projects you are working on that we should be excited about?
VM- I just finished shooting an episode of NCIS: New Orleans.
